Waiting on Wednesday

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event hosted on Breaking the Spine, that highlights upcoming releases that we are eagerly awaiting.

I recently discovered Kate Morton and have since begun to collect each of her novels, so this one should come of no surprise:

UK, US and Australian covers

The Lakehouse

by Kate Morton

Release Date: 22 October 2015

Goodreads Description:

An abandoned house...

After a particularly troubling case, Sadie Sparrow is sent on an enforced break from her job with the Metropolitan Police and retreats to her beloved grandfather's cottage in Cornwall. There she finds herself at a loose end, until one day she stumbles upon an abandoned house surrounded by overgrown gardens and dense woods, and learns the story of a baby boy who disappeared without a trace.

A missing child...

June 1933, and the Edevane family's country house, Loeanneth, is polished and gleaming, ready for the much-anticipated Midsummer Eve party. For Eleanor, the annual party has always been one of her treasured traditions, but her middle daughter, Alice, sixteen years old and with literary ambitions, is especially excited. Not only has Alice worked out the perfect twist for her novel, she's also fallen helplessly in love with someone she shouldn't. But by the time midnight strikes and fireworks light up the night sky, the Edevane family will have suffered a loss so great they leave Loeanneth and never return.

An unsolved mystery...

Seventy years later, in the attic writing room of her elegant Hampstead home, the formidable Alice Edevane leads a life as neatly plotted as the bestselling detective novels she writes. Until a young police detective starts asking questions about her family's past and seeking to resurrect the complex tangle of secrets Alice has spent her life trying to escape...

I'm also waiting on the second book in the Queens of Conquest series by Joanna Courtney which will be about the Viking Harald Hardrara's wife Elizaveta of Kiev. As yet the release date is unknown.

It's Monday! What Are You Reading? #3

It's Monday! What Are You Reading? is a meme hosted by Book Journey.

So, I haven't posted for quite a while... I have been reading but family life has been pretty hectic and I've been very disorganised - which isn't much of an excuse but it's the truth. With the festive season over and things finally a lot calmer I've become a bit more organised and plan to post at least weekly on top of reviews. So there'll be much more content from here on.

Read Last Week

As you can see I've been reading a bit of Adult Fiction lately. Both of these are fantastic books that I highly recommend them. Reviews of these and other books I've been reading in my absence will be coming shortly.

Currently Reading

This will be my first Donna Tartt novel and I'm pretty excited because I've heard such marvellous things about her writing. If I like this I'll be sure to check out her other work too.

Up Next

At the start of 2015 I realised how many books that have been sitting on my shelf, collecting dust, waiting to be read. So I am participating in 0 by 16, a project started by Max from Well Done Books, in an effort to reduce the amount of books on my TBR. To aid my efforts I've made myself a TBR jar and, as such, am unlikely to know what I'll read next.
