I only read The Other Hand last week, but it was so poignant that I had to include it on the list! Hope you have a great reading week, and thanks for stopping by!
I only read The Other Hand last week, but liked it enough to recommend it to my mum. In fact, I'll probably be sending it to her this week. Hope you have a great reading week, and thanks for stopping by!
American Wife sounds really good! I've been loving historical fiction novels about people's wives lately. I read and loved The Paris Wife by Paula McClain about Ernest Hemingway's first wife, I highly recommend it!
I really loved American Wife, though I read it a couple of years back so would like to reread it to see if I love it just as much as I did. Oh, thank you so much for bringing The Paris Wife up - I've been meaning to read it, but had forgotten the name of it! Hope you have a great reading week, and thanks for stopping by!
I agree -- definitely not an easy list this week! But still a lot of fun. :) If I Stay is a great choice, definitely more character orientated then plot focused. I haven't read The Book Thief, yet, but I do want to!
Great list-- I like that you have different titles on it that I've not seen around. I'm going to go check out some of them now and see if they are a good fit for me. Thanks.
Such a great list, though I've only read If I Stay from it but that book was soo amazing, I really enjoyed the movie as well, I think the actors were just perfect. I've been meaning to read The Book Thief but something always comes up, so yeah I have to admit that I even considered watching the movie before reading the book, horrible I know. Gone Girl seems wonderful as well, I'm hesitant to pick it up because I read some harsh reviews of it. I loved Pride and Prejudice so now many Jane Austen novels are on my list, Emma is the first I will read. I'll just have to buy it somewhere. :) My TTT: http://reading-is-dreaming-with-open-eyes.blogspot.hu/2014/10/top-ten-character-driven-novels.html
Glad you enjoyed the If I Stay movie, I haven't seen it yet but willl get round to it soon, I hope. You should definitely read The Book Thief and Gone Girl. The Book Thief is such a moving and beautiful story and you should read Gone Girl just to see what you think of it. I wouldn't recommend reading Emma if you've only read Pride and Prejudice, as it's quite different. Northanger Abbey is probably what I'd recommend, though that may be because it's one of my favourite Austen novels. Anyway, thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a good reading week! :)
Those are all great choices for character-driven books. I loved STONER by John Williams, too. American Wife was definitely a favorite. And Gone Girl, of course!
I really struggled this week because I started out to create a list of just YA books that are character driven and I tried to stay away from books that were driven by the plot even if they had strong characters like The Hunger Games, Thanks for visiting my blog and putting up with my puny answers.
I found the list pretty hard without any genre limitation, so you've done really well! I hope you have a good reading week and thanks for stopping by! :)
The tears are worth it, I promise! Yeah, there's no other way to aptly describe Gone Girl because there's nothing quite like it. Hope you have a good reading week and thanks for stopping by! :)
I think I only read The Colour Purple for my AS English Lit course, but it was a good book. Hope you have a good reading week and thanks for stopping by! :)
The Book Thief is one of my favorite books! I love all those characters so much, especially Papa Hubberman. If I Stay is also a beautiful book. Great list!
I agree with a lot of the books on your list. Gone Girl is certainly character driven! I LOVED The Other Hand too. Such a good book!

DeleteI've waffled around, yes and no, with Gone Girl ever since it came out.
ReplyDeleteHere's my Best Character-Driven Novels!
It's one of those books, I think, that you'll either love it or dislike it. Hope you have a great reading week, and thanks for stopping by!
DeleteGreat list! I loved The Other Hand - such a good book. And totally agree about Gone Girl - DEFINITELY character-driven to the max!

DeleteI really, really need to read THE BOOK THIEF, but I fear the tears. I am reading GONE GIRL now and it's, well, GONE GIRL. Thanks for stopping by!

DeleteSome really good choices here. Gone Girl is definitely a character study, so it makes total sense on a list like this.
ReplyDeleteYay Color Purple!
Yeah, that's what I thought. Hope you have a good reading week and thanks for stopping by! :)
DeleteI neeeed to hurry up and read The Colour Purple, I've had it on my shelf for far too long. Thanks for sharing your list!
